Frequently Asked Questions
If your needs aren’t addressed by one of the common questions we’ve answered below, please feel free to ask your question via our contact form.
Are you locally owned and operated?
Yes, we were founded in the Denver Metro area, and we are operated by locals who understand what the harsh Colorado environment can do to decks.
How do I know if my stained deck needs to be refinished?
A quick test is to pour water on your deck. If the water is absorbed into the woodgrain rather than beading and running off, it is time to protect your deck.
My deck was sealed with a solid paint or stain and it is peeling what should I do?
Decks should never be sealed with a solid treatment of any kind–they will always peel. This product needs to be removed by stripping or sanding, and a semi-transparent stain should be applied.
How much will it cost to refinish my deck?
It would be unfair to charge everyone the same rate as some decks are in worse shape than others, but we are happy to come out and give you a free competitive estimate.
How long do I have to stay off my deck after it is refinished?
We usually ask people to stay off their decks for 24 hrs after the floor is sealed.
Are you licensed with worker’s compensation?
Absolutely. We are licensed with the state of Colorado and all of our workers are covered in case of an accident, however we take great strides to provide a safe work environment and we have yet to have an injury.
When do you require payment?
We usually do not require payment up front for deck refinishing. You pay when the work is done and you are satisfied. For unusually large jobs, we may ask for a deposit to cover materials.
Do you spray or roll the stain on?
No, that is what companies do to save time and money, but it is not an acceptable way of applying the stain. We strictly stain with a brush by hand, it is the only way to insure the deck stain is penetrating the wood properly.
Is there a permanent deck stain, so that I never have to refinish my deck again?
We all wish there was a miracle product that would seal your deck forever, but there isn’t, and be wary of false claims that say otherwise.
Should I just switch to composite decking and never worry about refinishing again?
If low-maintenance is your highest priority, this is the way to go. But the convenience of a composite does come at a cost: you’ll get a lower quality deck at a much higher price. At Colorado Deckmaster, we love the look, feel and craftsmanship of a fine wood deck.
Can you give an estimate over the phone or via email?
Yes! We can give you a very precise quote if you send us some pictures and dimensions. We actually recommend this for people that want to save time.
Do you build decks?
We do not build decks, but if that is what you are looking for, please visit www.allprodecking.com. Ray and his crews can help you out.
What kind of payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major forms of payment, including cash, check, credit, or debit.
How much does it cost to get a quote?
We're confident that we offer the best value in the industry, so our quotes are always free.
